TPS provides secure and controlled access to TPS-managed data from application programs running in non-TPS environments. It offers very low initialisation costs for applications that are non-terminal based and also allows access to multiple concurrent TPS services.

TPS comprises the TPS Server for OpenVME providing central access to TPS-managed data from application programs running in non-TPS environments and the TPS Client which allows UNIX applications to access data managed by TPS services.

TPS therefore provides simple procedural access interfaces for application code running under OpenVME to UNIX.
