Transaction Processing - Session-XA

Most business transactions in an OLTP system take place over a series of real transactions, and it is usually necessary to be able to save context-related data to provide continuity between these transactions. Provision of a simple and secure means to do this is the central task of Session-XA.

Session-XA provides a session context by means of an XA-compliant resource dedicated to managing session-related data at the server end of a Tuxedo system, and a simple Tuxedo client API for accessing the context data.

At 'tpinit' time a session-id is generated by means of a specially-supplied 'authsvr' (which can also handle authentication, if required). This session-id is propagated by Tuxedo to every service call made for the session, and any application server code can use the Session-XA services provided to save and restore session context data as required.
